CHAPTER II THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK This chapter contains theoretical framework, which has two sub-chapters. The first sub-chapter is the synopsis of Pride and Prejudice novel which will be used as the object of this study. The second sub-chapter is review of the related literature which contains of theories that underlie the analysis of this study and also related subjects that support the analysis. Review of related literature consist of two main points, they are: Primogeniture system in England and Archetypes of Carl Jung’s Psychological Analitic theory. A. Synopsis Pride and Prejudice is one of sensational novels of Jane Austen. The novel tells about Mr. Collins, Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy. Mr. Collins is Mr. Bennet’s nephew, a man who will inherit Mr. Bennet’s properties after his death. The human psyche is divided into three parts they are: conscious, unconscious and the collective unconscious. But the most important thing in that psyche is the collective unconscious. (Amico, 2014, 1). Amico’s statement above is similar to George Boere’s statement. He says that the collective unconscious is the part of psyche that makes Jung theories stand out from all others. The collective unconscious is the psyche of inheritance, it is the psyche that descended from grandmother to mother, and from mother of his child and so on. This psyche influences our characters and behaviors. And it also influences our emotional. We can’t know how it occurs directly, but we know it occurs by looking into the influence of it. There are some experiences that show the effects of the collective unconscious: The experiences of love at first sight, the spiritual experience of mystic in religion and so on. (Boere, 2015,
