The article also provides evidence that during this time period, 1960-1964, the British had power over Zimbabwe and wanted to move forward. Mugabe then formed a group to rebel against the British. In 1984 Mugabe sent a military brigade to the west side of Africa to hunt down dissidents. In that action 10,000 people were killed. Since Mugabe had a voice for the Zimbabwean people, in 1988 he was elected president of Zimbabwe. All things in Zimbabwe had been going well until the 1990’s where everything started to fall apart.
