Locke, John. An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. T.Tegg and Son, 1836. Locke, one of the most prominent philosophers of his time and till this day, his works have influenced political philosophy, and modern liberalism. His philosophy on human nature will help influence my research since he denies the claims that human are born with innate principles. Arguing that human identity is shaped through our consciousness, Locke believes that our personal identity is what we think of ourselves, and not by the substance. His essay will help me understand how the circumstances wither it was religious or economic formed the characters identities and ideas.
