Introduction Co-teaching is not a new practice among two or more in-service teachers working with children and youth in school settings. Within general and special education, this collaborative approach has been implemented and researched for more than 25 years (Cook & Friend, 1995). A review of the literature indicates this practice to have mixed reviews in the literature as a model to meet the needs of a variety of learners in a variety of classroom settings, including students with disabilities (Bauwens & Houcade, 1995; Platt, Walker-Knight, Lee, & Hewitt, 2001; Vaughn, Schumm, & Arguelles, 1997 – add more current references here).
