INTRODUCTION:

Suspect Michael Anthony Lopez DOB – 12/21/84 was arrested per PC 484(a) – Petty Theft after he walked inside the Target, grabbed and concealed the listed loss, and walked out carrying the loss and not paying for the merchandise.

EVIDENCE:

Item #1 – (1) clear glass pipe with a white colored residue inside the long cylindrical side resembling methamphetamine and a burned bulb on one end. (See attached evidence form and picture).

Item #2 – (1) DVD of Lopez’ theft at Target

LOSS/RECOVERED:

1. (3) Nintendo game controllers (SKU # 207007010 - $79.99 each) $ 239.97
$ 22.80 (tax)

Total Loss: $ 262.77

INVESTIGATION:

On 5/25/18, at approximately 1959 hours, I was dispatched to the Target located at 777 E. Colorado Blvd. regarding a theft in progress. Dispatch advised Target loss …show more content…

Castellanos was approximately 30 feet away from Lopez when he saw him reaching into his pants’ pockets. Castellanos perceived Lopez’ actions of reaching into his pockets as him concealing the loss. Castellanos checked the displayed area and the aisles Lopez walked through, and he did not see any signs of merchandise being discarded. Lopez walked over to other sections of the store and selected additional miscellaneous items. Lopez walked to a cash registered, paid for the miscellaneous items, but did not pay for the listed loss. Castellanos called the police to report the incident and on 5/25/18, at approximately 2001 hours, Lopez walked out of the store through the first floor north facing entrance carrying the paid items, and the concealed items.

Castellanos as a representative of Target is desirous of prosecution for the theft and signed the Pasadena Police Department private person’s arrest form. (See attached).
