In 1982 in Chicago there was the murder of Marilyn green and jerry Hillary that happened in a swimming pool. That night 2 young men snuck into a pool to get a swim; one of the victims got out of a pool and a well-known person Anthony porter came behind him with a gun. Porter asked him to give him money but The young man replied I don't have any money; porter with a friend by his side reached in his pocket and pulled 2 dollars out of his pocket and said I'm letting you go easy. Then the victims friend came out of the other lower side of the pool and heard gun shots out loud. There were six other witness who were there; three at the bleachers and one on the diving board. William Taylor said he saw porter running from where he heard the shots from with a gun. the victim died but frank the man on the diving board said he recognized the shooter and he said porter was the shooter; too out of the three witness on the bleachers said Porter was the shooter while one was unsure because she wasn't looking her back was to the shooting, the shooting happened on the far left side of the bleachers. The man next to porter was questioned but did not want to say what happened; detectives was cautious because they knew he wouldn't talk because of porter. The detectives said these kids knew porter from the neighborhood and said he was feared and respected; one of the witness said you said the name Anthony people would stop another witness said Porter was a known stick up kid. Porter was freed 24 hours before he was supposed to be put to death. Alstory Simon went to trial after was unsure if what he was doing was right. He chose a popular lawyer who was friends with Anthony porter lawyer; alstory started trial in the beginning of 1999 for the murder. During the case the evidence that was played against him wasn't consistent it took several months of trial to come up with a verdict; he was found guilty of his case and faced 37 years in jail. Protesters was a well-respected lawyer so the information he gave the court wasn't questioned; alstory lawyer jack Richland told him to plead guilty to avoid the death penalty.
