In Rick Yancey's novel, The Monstrumologist, a young boy named Will Henry, who was orphaned when his parents died in a fire, finds himself as the assistant of a doctor. However, this doctor is unusual in the way that he studies monstrumology. "Monstrumology is the study of life forms generally malevolent to humans and not recognized by science as actual organisms, specifically those considered products of myth and folklore."(1) Will's world has already been turned upside down when he is recruited to assist this doctor, but his life is about to get even more twisted. One night a man brings the doctor the corpse of a young girl who has an Anthropophagi, a monster with no head and teeth in its stomach, latched onto her and dead as well.
