Researching personality disorders, I came to the conclusion that Tony’ symptoms is exhibiting lead me to believe that he has Anti-Social Personality Disorder. According to Psychiatrist, Kurt Schneider, (1887, 1967), there are various types psychopaths such as, the weakwilled, the depressive, the insecure, recognition seeking, with labile mood, explosive, emotionally- blunted, people that presents a lack of guilt, are irritable and aggressive, disregards obligations and social rules, acts impulsive, fails to learn from experience, has no problem finding relationships and can appear to be very charming. People with Antisocial Personality Disorder mental illness often have been in prison or comment crimes. If you completed an assessment with this client, what Biological, family, and cultural considerations of their background would you need to see to justify the diagnosis. I would need to the family’s mental and medical history information to properly diagnosis Tony. It would be very beneficial to his treatment plan to know if there’s a history of mental illness in his family, are there anyone in the family have ever been hospitalized for their mental illnesses and why? Did anyone ever commented or tried to comment suicide? Does genetics play a part in Tony’s diagnosis? Family background and upbringing is vital to the diagnosis and treatment plan for Tony. Cultural considerations are very important to make sure that the client and his family are respected no matter what our thoughts or beliefs are. Counselors must keep all of their biases and opinions when treating their clients. It is very important have knowledge of the client’s cultural background. There are dos and don’ts in cultural considerations. I would consider what the client feels he or she needs to help them get better because the client has a right to make choices concerning their mental illness treatment
