Billy called the staff this morning in regards to one of his medication not being delivered to him. The staff facilitated a session focused on psychiatric medication management. The staff taught Billy communication skills by training him to call the pharmacy and ask for the reasons why the medication was not delivered along with the other medications. Moreover, the staff taught Billy to also ask the pharmacist if the medication could be picked up. Billy communicated very well with the pharmacist and the pharmacist informs Billy to come by and pick up the medications.

Charles Barber’s article, “The Medicated Americans: Antidepressants Prescriptions on the Rise,” focuses on the views of “depression” and “Depression” that are caused by antidepressants like Prozac, Paxil, and Norpramin. Barber talks about how people do not understand the differences of depression which causes misdiagnoses and misunderstanding of the two. One meaning of “Depression” is how it is used to do describe a serious medical condition and the other meaning a broad terming meaning feeling down, bummed out, or anything along those lines. I 'm also concerned with children being on medication, so I always believe that alternative methods should be tried first. Also, I agree with you that the ultimate decision regarding if a drug is appropriate or not is up to the patient. Sometimes doctors are quick to prescribe a medication regardless of the side effects.

The platform for this model is important to be in clinics where patients visit the most and supervised with a collaborative team of patient educators, social workers, nurses, physicians, and consultant psychiatrist (Hunter, Goodie, Oordit, & Dobmeye, (2009). The team should be available to the patient for a first encounter the same day to identify the patient’s needs. Each appointment is concise except the evaluation by the Social Worker.

Anti-depressants and other drugs with the same intent to cure health problems should not be out for the public with pliable requirements because these drugs change one 's character, give a high chance of hurting the consumer or the ones around the user, and it can cause major health problems that can affect one 's life forever. The easily accessible drugs that are offered to the open public now a days do far more than getting your mind off the present.

Health classes should take more of an initiative to put out the idea of mental health awareness and why it's important. At Pickerington High School North, a health class credit is mandatory for all students to to graduate. In this class, mental illness was talked about for a week or two total and mainly focused on the most over commonly known illnesses. For example, depression, anxiety, and anorexia. They didn’t even touch base on the The spectrum needs to be broadened.
