Summary notes on the play Antigone • “Another thing she is thinking is this: she is going to die.” (page 3) Antigone is a young. This quote makes me really curios because Antigone is thinking she is going to die but as Chorus says she is young. I have many questions in my mind as to does she have a disease? • “Suddenly he (Haemon, the kings son) went in search of Antigone and found her sitting alone – like that, with her hands clasped round her knees – and asked her to marry him” (Page 4) this part is really weird because the way Chorus says that Ismene is more beautiful then Antigone then why would the son of the king want to marry someone who I not that beautiful • “… Well here is Haemon expecting to marry Antigone. • Character and role: Antigone is the niece of the King Creon “Creon, her uncle, the King” (page 3) Antigone’s role in this play is really important because she is the only one that has stood up for the right and has disobeyed her uncles, the kings orders by burying her brother, Polynices Haemon is the son of the king. “Haemon. He is the king’s son, Creon’s son.” Haemon is one of the characters in the play. He has an important part because he is the king’s son and is going to marry the main character, which is Antigone. Creon is the king. “Creon, her uncle, the King.” Creon has one of the most important parts because he is the one who made all the rules in the play and also did not want anyone to bury his own son because they had a fight on who would take the throne after Creon died, Polynices or his younger brother. Creon is also acting throughout the play, he only exits a few times but for most of the play there are many parts for
