The essence of one cannot be maneuvered to our discretion but be claimed by life and its molestation, its then, one solely aids its self with invisible faith and hope as an elixir. The two most powerful entities that people use to channel through life, simultaneously being bombarded with darts that make someone and scar them. As a young child Antonio Marez falls into a never-ending abyss depriving him of his innocence, sinking faster by unanswered question, to then realize that his only way out is to do the unholy and sin. With each day being altered Antonio's changes are radically morphing him into something beyond his age.

Antonio was a child with mind beyond is years but nothing could prepare him to witness the death of a man by the men of his own village, the men of the village who did not hesitate to kill another man. Antonio followed his father to the bridge and hid by the river, he witnesses a man that was lost in the war, the war that his brothers are fighting in, Antonio was last person to see Lupitos last breath with his final wish of a blessing, he saw Lupitos blood spilled into the river, to stain his river for eternity, it is there and then by the bridge that Antonio started to crossed his bridge of innocence, " My body began to hurt from the beating it had taken from the brush of the river. But what hurt more was that I had witnessed for the first time the death of a man"(Anaya 24). Antonio saw the changes in people around him, he saw the world manipulating people to its wants and saw his brothers getting lost. It was shortly after Antonios brothers return from the war as men they were ready to move on form the village of Guadalupe, they were ready to leave their parents and take their life for themselves, "There was an empty feeling inside, not because they spanked me, but because they would be gone again. Then when someone is ignored and left to fend for themselves it is worse than being beaten, no one cares anymore and they don’t want to take any time to help you or at least feel some remorse for you. Antonio was unanswered questions lives through unimaginable scenarios and seeks God for comfort, he knows it’s the right thing to do but he doesn't feel it. Antonio seeks for something no one can give him, he himself is unsure of it but still is in search of it. The action of killing another human is only punishable by eternity in hell, but if someone is out of their mind does he have the same consequences, wasn’t he the hero when he was out in the filed killing other people, now he was a criminal now, then why was war created, why did his benevolent God let people kill each other and let it be the answers to their problems. It was the first few question Antonio had for God. Antonio was young when he was confronted with life vicissitudes, but he searches for an open ear, for God to listen, but l he had was unanswered questions to stay inside him.
