Many people's lives revolve around music, whether they be a musician, a jock, or even an academic scholar. In the band or choir room the music never stops; playing an instrument or singing may be a person's way of changing their mood. A jock may have that one pre game song that gives them confidence and eases their nerves before the big game. An academic scholar may be having a rough time with an important paper and turn to their favorite song to relieve some stress. The rhythms and beats in music trigger a sensation in the mind that influence how these types of people feel when they incorporate music in their hobbies. Their attention span is very limited. Studying or learning new topics becomes boring for them and they have trouble finding interest in continuing with their task. According to healthychildren.org, scientific research supports common experience that pairing music with rhythm and pitch enhances learning and recall. When learning new topics in a subject it is easier to recall those topics when it is set to a tune, such as the ABCs, people most often memorize them because they were set to a catchy, upbeat tune. People also get stuck on memorizing math formulas, like the quadratic formula. When it is set to the tune of row row row your boat, it is easier to pick up and recall on a math test.
