Dear Mrs. Longman, as I continue to work on the essays and other assignments, I have found that the biggest challenge I face when writing is beginning and ending my essays. For some reason it is a constant struggle for me to begin and conclude my thoughts. Although we have only written a few papers, I think by the end of this course I will have a better understanding of how to conclude my thoughts. One essay that stands out to me is my Common App Essay. I enjoyed writing this essay the most. I think the reason I enjoyed writing this essay the most is because it gave me a chance to truly express myself and give the reader a better understanding of who I am as a person. I find it is easier to relate to the topic when I get to chose it, or it has to do with a personal aspect of my life. Not only is it a good skill to have, I think it will help me in the future. I think taking this class in high school was a good choice because it helps to prepare you and sort of give you a head start for college. Before this class I was never really challenged in an English class. With this class I feel as if it pushes me to challenge myself and sort of gives me a head start for what is ahead of me. I also feel as if this class leaves room for me to grow as not only a writer but a student. I feel as if sometimes in high school they don’t allow us to express ourselves as much as we may prefer. By taking the College Credit Plus course versus the English 12 College Prep, I feel as if it allows me to challenge myself as a writer and get a different perspective on learning styles compared to what I am use to. I think that if I continue to work hard and deeply evaluate my writing, it can help me to become a better writer and student.
