As a young child, I had a lot of aspirations and dreams for my future career. Originally, I wanted to become a doctor and planned to whatever was necessary to get into medical school. My father was a doctor and as a young unknowing child, I looked up to him. I was fascinated by the human body and the complexity of the various systems that kept it functioning. progressed through my high school classes, I realized that while I enjoyed learning about science, I was more interested in the human mind and behavior. I have always wondered why people think and behave in certain ways and noticed patterns in their behavior. One requirement was to choose a major before I embarked on my journey something I found helpful as I get overwhelmed by options. Showing up to SOU already with a schedule and major chosen I was excited to get to work! As I delved deeper into my psychology courses, I became increasingly fascinated by the different theories and concepts that I was learning about. The idea of studying the inner workings of the mind, from perception and memory to motivation and emotion got me excited to learn more. Throughout my own life, I always questioned how and why people behave the way they do. I loved seeking to uncover the underlying mechanisms that drove human behavior. One of the things that I appreciated most about psychology was the wide range of applications that it had. I felt I had a lot of options that sound like fantastic careers. I was interested in exploring the other career paths that were available with a psychology degree. I was drawn to the idea of using my knowledge of human behavior to work in areas like therapy, education, or social services. I saw psychology as a tool that would allow me to make a positive impact on people's lives in a variety of different ways. Overall, I ultimately chose to major in psychology because it offered versatility, answers, and the opportunity to study something that I was truly passionate about. I am fascinated by the science of human behavior and the different factors that influenced it. Psychology is a field that would allow me to pursue my intellectual interests while also making a positive impact on people's lives.
