For the public, museums are the educational, remembrance of the past, and are built upon steadfast tradition. When you walk into a museum an awareness takes over as you look around. Museums should not try to change the factors, and traditions that make them a museum. Pieces in museums have historical meaning and are important to whatever type of museum it is. Museums try to rid these traditions to commercialize themselves, and then it is no longer a museum. It has become a part of the industry, and business for people with large wallets. When a museums goals are changed rather than having education first, money becomes primary. Each piece of art or artifact in a museum, represent specific period, or to capture a grand moment in history. “A work is chosen for reproduction, not because of its place within an educational context, or because of its intrinsic aesthetic worth, but because of its marketability. “(Source D) This shows that museums think that artifacts are shown more the aesthetic and marketability rather than the educational purpose.
