1. God is the creator of the universe and all things. Because He created time, He is unchanging. He is the same today, yesterday, 4000 years ago, and 4000 years into the future. God is not surprised by history or human actions. God is eternal, meaning not simply that He lives forever but that He has always existed. God is bound to His promises and His curses because having created the law, He is perfect and is unable to break them, unlike us in our sinful nature.
God is triune, meaning that He is one God composed of three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God The Holy Spirit. To clarify, God doesn’t have three modes that He switches between depending on the situation; He is all three simultaneously. All three persons have the same characteristics of God: eternal, never changing, holy, omnipotent. No one person of the Trinity is any less than another.

On the surface, Japan is already a very moral country; modern-day Western views on homosexuality, drugs, feminism, and gender politics are almost nonexistent. That isn’t to say Japan is 1950’s America; it is very flawed and desperately needs a massive movement of the Gospel. Japan has a culture of conformity, and standing out by becoming a Christian is a very real barrier every missionary must face when we build relationships with people and engage in any kind of evangelism.

The end IS nigh. In our jail ministry, Kelly and I constantly told the girls we worked with that today is the day of salvation. Christ could come tonight. Even this very hour he could be returning. Christ’s impending return should motivate more of us to evangelism. Fear is the beginning of understanding with our Lord (Proverbs 9:10). I pray many are saved before the return of Christ, and it is one of my motivations to become a tent-maker/missionary in Japan.
