1. Cite an article relating to your study using APA format (it can be the article your group used or a different one). How does the techniques used in this article relate to the techniques used in your group project? (1-2 paragraphs) The techniques used in this article focused on the same squats (front and back) as we did. Just as we found, this study concluded that the back squat resulted in higher compressive forces than the front squats. This study as well as our group project, both used the bar, to assist in the squats. This study also used males and females. However, these individuals were experienced at performing front and back squats, which was different from our project. The same muscle groups were measured as ours (rectus fermoris and bicep fermoris). The particiapnts were given a five-minute rest period between each set. We provided a one- minute rest period between the squats (front and back). For five seconds the subject would maximally contract the knee extensors against manual resistance for 5 seconds, which is the same way we measured MVC. The participants would also be shaved when necessary for placement, which was something that we did not do (Gullett, J. C., Tillman, M. D., Gutierrez, G. M., …show more content…
The directions from the SENIAM link, was very helpful and it was great assistance in the placement. The SENIAM was very specific with pictures, which made it a lot easier to find the muscles (rectus and biceps femoris). Also, using the tape measure to make sure that the electrodes where in the correct places, also made placement easier. As I practiced with taking the sticky plastic off of the electrode, I began to feel a lot more comfortable with taking those off, to place the electrode in the desired location. In the beginning pulling the sticky paper off, was a bit of a challenge. However, it became more easier, which made me more
