Could you picture around 6 million people? Now how would you feel if all of them were killed right now? All of them being killed because they were African American or they were Mexican. The Holocaust was when the Nazi’s led by Adolf Hitler persecuted, tortured, and killed people just because they were Jewish. People were separated from their families and gassed or burned just to keep up with how many people were coming into the camp, or just to amuse themselves.
The Holocaust and the Cambodian Genocide were two major events in history that caused millions of innocent people and even children to die. Although the actions that occurred during the Holocaust differ from those that occurred during the Cambodian Genocide, they happen to have many similarities. Since October 24th, 1945, the United Nations had the intention “to engage diplomatically as armed conflict is absolutely unacceptable” . Even though the United Nations stated this, genocides still continued to occur. This is seen in the cartoon, by the hundreds of skeleton heads with graves above the skeletons which is implying that the United Nations did not succeed in their goal (cartoon).
The Nazis believed the Germans were “racially superior” and the Jews were inferior (The Holocaust). Over 6 million Jews lost their lives during the Holocaust (The Holocaust). The main targets were Jews, disabled, Gypsies, and slavic people (The Holocaust). If they did not match the “social norms”, they were killed (The Holocaust). Between the years 1941 and 1944, Jews were deported to concentration camps where they were then killed (The Holocaust).
Mr. Benham-Baker English 1 28 April 2023 Born a Crime/Synthesis Essay Introduction Starting in 1948 and ending in 1994, Apartheid was a policy of complete racial segregation in South Africa, allowing political and economic discrimination against non-white people (Burns). The government ruled by the white minority, or the Afrikaans, installed Apartheid to build an excellent standard of living within South Africa for the white minority, while the non-white majority struggled (“South Africa: Revolution”). From the first colonization of South Africa by Dutch Settlers in 1650 to the British capturing the colony for their empire in 1910, Apartheid was inspired by the white supremacist ideologies that first placed South Africa into white control (Noah
From 1948-1994, apartheid raged across South Africa. The people of South Africa were split into four different social groups based on race. The top of the social hierarchy at the time were the white South Africans. They held control from the government and kept the other groups in a constant state of oppression. These other groups included Indian people, “colored” people, and black people.
The Holocaust had more Jewish deaths over a span of 12 years than African American deaths in the USA over a span of 40 years because the large amount of Jews in concentration camps spread diseases much faster, they were killed with poison nerve gas while the African Americans were hanged, and they died of starvation and hard prison work. When the Nazis took over Germany in

This article was written by Gale World Cengage Group and mainly focuses on apartheid and how negative apartheid is. This information is relevant in today's history because it shows how life was for people of color back in the 1900’s, where segregation and discrimination was way more relevant than today. The main idea of this article is how the majority of white people with powerful positions in the government used their force against colored people to harass, segregate and manipulate them. This is what makes this article relevant to history and to this thesis. In Apartheid Gale World History states “ the government supported racial discrimination but it was the all white national party who introduced apartheid”.
The Rwandan genocide vs. the Holocaust “Genocide is an attempt to exterminate a people, not to alter their behavior.” Jack Schwartz. Genocide is mass murder, it happens in all parts of the world. A common known genocide is the Holocaust. Where a group known as the“Nazis” (lead by Hitler) murdered more than six million people (many were Jewish).
So far, my life has been full of change. I was born in, India, and moved around for many of the early years of my life. I went from, Toronto, Dayton, Cincinnati, Wheaton, and finally, Elk Grove Village, in a six-year span of my life. These formative years were great for me because my parents always pushed me to do my best. Academically, I was pushed into performing the best I could such as trying my best in English class even though it was a struggle in the beginning.
Even if they did not gain equal rights, they were known for trying and being known and recognized. Throughout the French Revolution women were realizing that their basic needs and standards were not met and were not treated as basic human beings or normal people in their society. Especially since,“They were not considered full citizens. Their husbands controlleed their property and had to give their permission should a wife wish to sell anything or transact any kind of business”(Streissguth).

Both Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther king JR worked hard to achieve equality by protesting against the government and achieve their goals to have equality no matter skin color.
Apartheid began because the two races had very different views on living; Afrikaners began to believe that they were superior to the black people in South Africa. Due to the Afrikaans perspective, Afrikaans nationalism was enhanced because they thoroughly believed that the segregation had to take place because God wanted to set the Boer Nation apart. Afrikaners even believed that they were direct decedents of the Israeli Nation, in other words “the chosen nation of God”.
Apartheid The unbelievable crimes that have occurred in South Africa are horrific. The fight for freedom and democracy has cost many innocent lives and harm to almost all black South Africans. Apartheid was the policy of segregation or discrimination or ground of race. Even though the fight has come a long way it is not over yet. It all started in 1948, when the government of South Africa introduced new laws putting a fine line between black and white.
