It was a beautiful day in Mt. Olympus where the overall mood the gods was generally good. The gods were all in their separate area enjoying the sun and perfect temperature. Everyone except Aphrodite and Poseidon. Aphrodite was as lovely as always, being the goddess of love and beauty, with her green eyes and her dark red hair, but she was in the worst mood you could ask for. Poseidon was in his realm, the sea, contemplating why Aphrodite seems to have a negative effect on him.
It began several weeks before just because, Atë, the eldest daughter of Zeus was really bored. Atë is the goddess of mischief, and she just happened to have stopped by near the sea, so she decided to visit Poseidon in the place he feels more comfortable. “Surely she is practicing for our challenge. I cannot allow that,” he mumbled under his breath. He approached Aphrodite attentively and made sure not to do anything that might give him away. Aphrodite could tell something wasn’t right, and she smelled fish (although that might have been the Ocean).
“State your business. I know you are there, so there is no point trying to hide from me,”Aphrodite said. Poseidon revealed himself and yelled at Aphrodite. She didn’t understand why Poseidon was yelling at her, because as far as she knew, she hadn’t done anything to upset him. She only heard a few of the words that he was saying because she was blocking out most of it. She caught things like, “Stupid! How dare you! How could you! What were you thinking! Stay away!” She rushed away without a word, feeling very confused and hurt by the way Poseidon had treated her.
When she went back to her area of Mt. Olympus, everyone was giving her strange looks, because no one had ever seen her so downcast before. They kept asking her what was wrong, but she refused to answer. She went back to her home where she sat alone for a
