LFBJ Martin Luther King (MLK) uses Pathos to persuade his readers and uses rhetorical questions. MLK appeals to his audience when he states, “ In justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” (King 6) MLK. MLK used pathos here to link with the reader’s emotions. It makes the audience think about justice vs. injustice.

In the letter written by Martin Luther King Jr. called Letter from Birmingham Jail, gives the audience a demonstration of how he saw things. The focus being paragraph fourteen, in this paragraph there are twelve causes most, which are dependent clauses, except for one independent clause. In this paragraph when king says, “perhaps it is easy for those who have never felt the stinging darts of segregation …” Mr. King here tries to give an example of how it feels like to see the ones you love being hurt, he wants to put into their heads the immense pain the colored people went through. There is a sentence, an important one in this paragraph where Martin Luther King Jr clarifies the gravity of the situation.
On February 19, 2010 Tiger woods, a well-known golfer, took to the stand in front of a small group of family members, cameras, and media personalities. The subject of the press conference was to apologize for the cheating spree that he went on while married to Elin Nordegren. Woods took to the stand bearing multiple pieces of paper which he read directly from. During the speech he carried no pity for himself but at the same time asked the media to respect his privacy and allow him to make the changes needed in his life. From that moment on, the criticism, mockery, and foolish jokes began to surround Woods and his family.
This is a letter that was sent by Abigail Adams to her husband, John Adams, one of the most influential leaders of the American Revolution, at Braintree in Massachusetts on 31 March 1776, to take women’s rights into consideration when drafting new laws. This letter is part of the collection of missives more than 1,100 that John and Abigail exchanged during his nearly fifty years of married life and have a great historic important role. In them, the dreams of youth's ambitious lawyer, complaints of abandonment of his wife Abigail during the years when her husband was sent to Europe to strengthen the independence of the thirteen American colonies and political issues are recounted.
I believe that Jourdan Anderson’s letter was reasonably forgiving but he is not going to forget the trauma that he dealt with for thirty-two years. For example, he will never forget the times his master shot him and how he handled his children in the past. The letter he wrote is very well stated with decent English for a former slave. He mentioned some excellent points explaining why he would or would not come back to work at his previous living quarters. Although he misses the family he was a servant for he is still wary and unsure about if he can trust them.
One April 16th, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr., pastor and civil rights activist, in his speech entitled “Letter form Birmingham City Jail”, addresses social justice for all people. He supports his claims by first stating there is heritage and Americans will fight for what they deserve, then explaining we are doing the wrong thing to get the correct outcome, which is protesting for equality, and finally everyday people disobey the law to get the outcome they want. Sonny’s letter written to the narrator in response to the news of the narrator’s daughter dying serves an important role in the story by reestablishing the relationship between the brothers and giving the reader insight into the misery that Sonny felt as a result of his actions. It is revealed to the reader that before the narrator had written his letter to Sonny, that the two had not been on speaking terms for a long time. After hearing of the news, Sonny wrote the letter back to the narrator which formally began their newfound connection to each other. The wife of one future president and mother of another, Abigail Adams, writes a letter to her son, John Quincy Adams that outlines his potential success and establishes the expectations she has for him. Adams employs imagery, historical allusions, and appeals to her son’s rationale in order to encourage her son to take advantage of his blessings by creating something more out of them. She creates a maternal tone to highlight her credibility as a mother. Adams opens her letter with a strong maternal tone that would appeal to John Quincy Adams’ emotions and make him more likely to listen to what his mother has to say.
An apology. It seems like a simple thing, but a poorly constructed one can do much more harm than good. It takes skill to craft an effective apology, which is what apologia is. We need apologia because there has to be a venue with which public figures like athletes or politicians can try to justify their actions themselves or have their actions be justified by others. Apologia gives public figures the opportunity to be redeemed, even if they have done something wrong, because of the good that they’ve already done and/or because of the change they will make in the future.
King’s tone in the opening paragraph is sarcastic towards his critics whom he is addressing. He conveys sarcasm through lines like “If I sought to answer all the criticisms that cross my desk, my secretaries would have little time for anything [else]… I would have no time for constructive work” (1), when he is writing from jail. He does not have anything else to do except write this letter, because his options are severely limited in jail. Rather than immediately answering the clergymen’s criticisms, he seeks to make a point that he is locked in jail writing this letter, so it is important.
Dear Members of the Jury, I am writing you this letter to tell to you that Tom Robinson should be proven not guilty. This case would have never happened if the truth would have been told and it wasn’t a case between black and white. There are many ways that Robinson is not guilty. One of these reasons that Tom Robinson is not guilty is that if you listened to the Sheriff 's testimony he stumbled frequently and when he said something and then Atticus would say something different he would agree with Atticus. Tom Robinson is a very polite man with great manners, which you could take into consideration that he wouldn’t dare hurt this woman in this kind of manner.

First off I would like to apologize for my actions I have brought to the table starting from my freshman year; I know I have put Dr. Chastain through tons my 4 years of attending Putnam City North. Dr. Chastain I really thank you for giving me opportunity after opportunity really being on my team to see me succeed, I have been going through a lot and trying to do things on my own and I see it slowly destroying my life and I know deep down inside everyone just wants what’s best for me. It was like no one cared about millions of people getting slaughtered. After WWII people has said never again. Well it happened again, no one did anything about it. For that the US and UN should have at least said some kind of sorry. President at the time, Bill Clinton, actually went to Rwanda to apologize.
