In the book, The Hunger Games, Capitol residents focus on appearance and false presentations. By context clues, we see may examples throughout the book. One main example, When each tribute is getting ready to do the interview, they are all dressed impress. Another example, is when she is in the games, here she shows examples of going against the capitol and seeing the good in some of the tributes. Finally, Katniss doesn't change herself into something others want her to be although others may get led on by this, it is not true. To begin, The Capitol has such a powerful effect on them that it forces them to work on their appearance and representation of their district. As the tributes are on their way to do the interview, they all are coming in in an elaborate manner. “The tributes from District 1 ride out in a chariot pulled by snow-white horses. As they arrive to the Capitol they are instructed of things that will be done. We can see Katniss is not a very “girly” type of person. Katniss in the beginning of the book says, “I swing my legs off the bed and slide into my hunting boots” ( Collins 4). Knowing that she is like this gives us a clue on how she will be at the games. “ You’ll be put in the hands of your stylists. You’re not going to like what they do to you. But no matter what it is, don’t resist.’ says Haymitch. “But” I begin. ‘No buts. Dont resist,’ says Haymitch.” ( Collins 58). Katniss clearly does not want to get made up and have her look changed. Just because, she has to let them change her appearance, it does not mean that they can change her. Throughout the book we see many events that are going on where someone is trying to change her.
