Society forces this image upon people and pressures them into believing that 's how they 're supposed to be. Society has decomposed individuality, making people put on a mask to be someone they are not. Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll 's House is a perfect example of all of the downfalls of society. Nora is influenced greatly by the expectations of the public. Due to her unique boldness, she was able to ignore her situation and live up to her own expectancy and make her life excel to her own personal standards. Henrik Ibsen 's A Doll 's House is a controversial play showing the difficulty of maintaining an individual, feminine personality while living up to the stereotyped role of a woman in the 1800’s.
A Doll 's House is so unique and unlike anything of its time. There is a lot of insight into Nora 's life behind the curtains, as well as in front, while displaying many purposeful themes. Henrik Ibsen 's style of writing is one of the most realistic in time. His plot and conflict throughout his stories were very realistic, especially his family-oriented plays such as A Dolls House. He is able to create family conflict in an extremely realistic style, which allows this play to be more enjoyable. The major conflict in A Doll 's House is Nora 's fraud. Torvald was recently sick, and the only way for him to get better was to take a trip to England in a warmer climate, which was way out of their budget. Nora, being the loving wife that she is, took matters into her own hands and tried to lift the pressure off of her sick husband. She needed a way to come up with the money, so she forged a bank loan. Her quite idiotic decision backfired on her quickly, she open-mindedly signed her father 's signature with a date passed his date of death clearly exposing her
