My intrigue with being motivated by new opportunities which take me out of my comfort zone to learn is what has successfully powered me through my career thus far. The value that I have put on consistently finding opportunities which challenge my way of thinking is what I believe makes me successful. My parents, who immigrated to the USA with all of $900 and made a successful life for our family, consistently reminded my sister and I on the value of education and the opportunities that it brings. I was taught to put my full effort into anything that I was committed to and as far back as I can remember, I have put 100% into any learning opportunity – whether in school, leadership activities, or extracurricular.

A few years later, when I had my first high school job at a tutoring center for elementary through high school students, if I saw a student struggle with a specific topic, I took that as a challenge not just to improve their academic career, but also give them the self confidence that they can be just as successful as their peers. I loved seeing the scored tests from school that some of the students would bring back to me, pointing out that they were able to move up from a B- to a B+ with my help as well as other assistant at the tutoring center. This job helped me to realize that I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. Education goes past the classroom as well. About a year or two later, in college, I quickly learned that having a strong team, regardless of the goal, is truly the key to success. While in college, I was very involved in cultural groups on campus, such as the South Asian Student Association, which focused on promoting and celebrating South Asian culture on Purdue’s campus via various cultural events.
