If anyone were to ask me what special characteristics set me apart from other applicants, I would undoubtedly say that my resilience, dedication, and kindness are what set me apart. I believe that the strength of a person cannot completely be measured by material acquisition and accolades. Success is measured by how an individual responds to the impact of adversity. In May 2016 I had the privilege and honor of being the first member family to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from Rice University. I was also blessed to spend my undergraduate career as a sprinter and hurdler on the Rice University Women’s Track and Field Team. As I look at my undergraduate career in retrospect, I am truly honored to have been allotted the rare opportunity of studying at a world-renowned research institution and balancing the demands of Division I athletics. Moreover, I am in the pursuit of fulfilling my life’s calling as a servant of humanity by being a physician. I want to be an advocate for proper health care for populations that are underrepresented and underserved in the United States and abroad. Instead, I draw strength from my personal and academic experiences that have impacted me as I prepare for my future as a physician.
