I am pleased to submit this Letter of Interest for the position of President and CEO of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. As a long time resident of Putnam County, I am aware of the important role this organization plays within our local communities. I strongly believe that my experience and skills would positively enhance the Community Foundations’ programs and outreach. I have extensive experience in strategic planning, advancement, and non-profit management in higher education, health care, and independent school settings and a history of success in growing outreach and support.

Based on this evaluation and using best practices, I designed and implemented a comprehensive approach to improve efficiency and effectiveness, grow financial and program support, enhance collaboration, measure performance, and create incentive and synergy among staff members. I have successfully recruited and strategically increased and realigned staffing within both hospital and higher education environments. I believe that the success of a program is based not only on the skills, attitudes, and continued professional development of staff, but also on clear goals and expectations. I recognize the importance of a strong planned giving program in creating a pipeline for the future of the organization. I believe that the support and engagement of the administration and Board is one of the critical success factors for an organization. I have served as a member of a senior management team for nearly 25 years, and have actively participated on or led numerous Board and management committees. I enjoy being part of a team with common goals and a shared vision.

I have an MPH degree in International Health and served as an adjunct faculty member at New York Medical College for many years. At the College I was responsible for securing funding for scholarships for low-income students. This was accomplished through personal outreach to private corporations and foundations, individuals and grant writing.

I am also quite familiar with the independent school sector. For more than 11 years I served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Mizzentop Day School, a private independent day school in Pawling, New York. I held various positions including Board President, Chair of Governance, and Chair of the Institutional Advancement Committee. I moved to Canterbury School in 2012 to be closer to my children and for the tuition benefits. At Canterbury my efforts have focused on building a strong alumni relations program and planning for the Centennial Year. I also have considerable experience in event planning
