I am currently a graduate student at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and will graduate in May, 2015 with a Master of Science degree in Accounting and a Certificate in the Business of Life Science. I plan to pass the CPA exam by 2015 summer. I want to start my career in public accounting, particularly in assurance and then work as a financial analyst (controller later) in a global company in the life science industry. By starting in public accounting, I can know in depth about the expectations of the public so that I am able to ensure the practice complies with the rules when I work in a corporation. I hope to get more exposure to this field through graduate courses and real world experience. The Assurance Learning Lab bridges the academic course with the real world. It provides exposure to a variety of career paths within the public accounting/assurance profession, so I can broaden my vision and business perspectives on my way for career exploration.
Additionally, Deloitte will bring a number of guest speakers to the classroom to talk about mergers and acquisitions, forensic accounting, independence, and corporate sustainability reporting. I am very interested in these hot topics. Specifically, I want to learn more about the implementation of business intelligence in these functions, because I notice informatics is applied to almost every aspect of the business.
