There are many archetypes in the literature that attracts both readers and audiences. These archetypes make the scene more dramatic by using the typical situation, symbol, and character type. But specifically, the characteristic of the outcast appears in many animation movies and fictions. The movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is a story of Bell who went to save her father who was trapped in the beast’s castle but eventually fell in love with the beast. The effect of the outcast who is banished from a community in the movies is that audiences no more think that outcasts like beasts are always bad and abandoned, and the purpose of his archetype is to break down stereotype. First of all, for the explanation of the outcast in the literature, the outcast is one who is banished from the society. There are many reasons to be the outcast. They could be separated from the world because of crime, their personality or identity or even they might separate themselves in purpose. Audiences easily think that beasts or monsters in the movie, is unsociable with other people just because of the fact that they are the outcast in the movie. Conversely, this movie changed that general idea. “The beast, however, seems doomed, as he shuts himself away, alone in his castle, taking up a reclusive existence far from everyone and everything” (Jhclues). This was the common impression toward the beast in the movie. Because the beast is an outsider, people thought that it will be hard to associate with other people. However, after they watched the movie their reactions toward the love between the outcast and Bell was positive. “A classic story of redemption, love, purity and friendship” (Shaffer). It affected and made the audience to think that outcasts are not always reckless and cruel, but are just like normal
