Food industries and individuals each have choices of their own in causing this pandemic obesity but the purpose of these sources show that food industries are to blame for more than they intent to. Individuals take some blame for the pandemic as they choose how much they consume and what they eat daily. Not only that but how they also portray themselves to their children, families, and friends. Now food industries take blame because they stop labeling things the right way, sign contracts to spread their products, and make “food” cost less for people. They do this to hide the truth from everyone and take advantage only to make money out of it. Fast food industries spend a lot of money advertising and signing contracts with schools, surrounding students with bad foods (“Obesity in America”). Food industries take advantage of students and children by advertising fast foods and having those foods for lunch in the cafeteria, this can cause health problems for kids as they have no choice but to eat the lunch and be persuaded by ads. A documentary, Food Inc. asserts that factory farming is spreading diseases from cattle, hogs, and birds, health issues are formed. If ads, school lunches, and farmers were looked into more, children and parents would not have to worry about health problems so much. The author, Neely asserts that a school and was closed for two days because students were coming home sick from the lunch (“Parents Concerned”). This demonstrates that the industry the food came from, did not take in on how children might be affected. The food industries make contracts with schools to spread their products, when no one knows what is in the food and children may get really sick.
