Testing is a grueling task that you or your child have to go through every year but why? States should ban these state tests in order to minimize the amount of stress have weighing down on your shoulders. When schools prepare for the standardized tests, you are refusing kids the opportunity of to have fun at school such as recess. To make matters worse, the multiple choice format of the tests offers a more adjustable environment for boys as the scoring of multiple choice is like that of a video game.
“Oh, another?” You groan as you sit down, and you probably won’t get up for several more hours. Thus begins the fourth day of standardized testing. Students should not have to take standardized testing because it takes up too much class time, it puts stress on teachers and students, and students already take too many tests in each subject.

Standardized Test can hinder a student's performance
The tests don’t take into consideration the fact that some kids don’t have it as good as others. Some kids might not want to try hard on the tests because they are too busy wondering where their next meal will come from. Based on a PISA test taken by 6,100 students, shows that the U.S wasn’t doing as good as we used to be. We dropped a few places on math but remained about the same in reading. The students that took this test could of been chosen randomly, and if they were, then they could of took a few students that are below the poverty line.
Standardized Testing is Essential You enter your classroom to take the most anticipated test of your school life. You have spent hours studying and preparing for the test. Even though it may have been the most dreaded test you’ve ever taken, it’s important. After you get your scores back a smile runs across your face as you see how well you did.
So that is why schools should not be giving test that don’t really do anything to the students. First off this standardized testing is giving the students too much stress. It is making the students stay up later on top of their other homework and study. Making the teacher only teach to the test so they are not really getting the
Instead, they were created for students that would not have had the opportunity to attend college had they not had these tests being sent to schools in the northeast. Now, these tests have begun to be used by many schools to determine their “bright” students among the crowd. However, some schools have adopted the idea that standardized test scores are not necessary. They realize that tests don’t measure a student’s growth and achievement.
When I take a standardized test I feel like I do my best to try to get a good score on it and I definitely try more than I would normally try on other test. I wouldn 't say i 'm a good test taker because when I get stuck on a problem I normally would stay on it for a long time also I get nervous easily so it gets hard to think straight. I 've been that way because I can deal with taking a huge test that is very important and I 'm not good under pressure. The way I prepare for a standardized test is I put everything I had trouble with behind me and try to make all the positive things I 've done help me out and try to release the stress I have.
Standardized testing has been shown with research that tests demonstrate that there is no benefit to the students and don't show actual academic performance. Phillip Harris wrote in ¨Standardized Tests Do Not Effectively Measure Student Achievement¨ his argument of the need to abandon the use of standardized tests. “What's more, the scores don't provide very much useful information for evaluating a student's achievement, a teacher's competency, or the success of a particular school or program.”
Standardized tests are not helping the students of the United States of America and they should remove the mandatory tests students are forced to take. Throughout one’s education in the United States of America, a student is going to run into many standardized tests. This is the result of the signing of the No Child Left Behind Act that was signed by President George W. Bush in 2002. It was signed to give more responsibility to the government to educate the children of the United States of America. Underneath all the legal words, it meant that states must test students, from the third grade to the twelfth grade.
The average American student takes about 112 standardized tests between pre-kindergarten and 12th grade (Strauss). A standardized test is any form of test that requires the student to answer the same selection of common questions in a consistent matter, which makes it possible to compare relative student performance. Standardized tests restrict creativity, waste time, and waste money. We should get rid of standardized tests in our school system. Standardized tests limit a student’s ability to express creativity.
As a student in high school did you ever feel like the standardized test are helping you or making you get in to a better college? Have you ever thought about how many hours students and teachers spend preparing for the standardized test? Many hours and studying are being put into those test but are they really effective and are the test doing the students good in life? Standardized tests are really just to effective, teachers and students spend too much time on them and it’s not doing the students any good, and even it’s not doing the teachers any good. Standardized tests in schools today in Ohio should be stopped because they are causing for teachers to be evaluated by the test results of how the students do on the tests, they are having the students more stressed about school and do they benefit you in colleges and university and do they really look at how well students do on them test.

While standardized tests are used to give a framework for teachers (University of Columbia 2013), there should be a different way to accomplish that because the tests are all computerized, students are being taught to take tests, not learn the material, and it puts entirely too much pressure on not only the students but the teachers(Popham #8-15). Standardized tests give a framework to teachers so that each teacher can stay on track with each other. This also allows teachers, that work in the same grade, to collaborate with each other to improve their lesson plans and overall teaching.
Student should not have to take standardized tests because it is not worth it. First standardized test take up 2.3% of class during class time. Student can get more class work done instead of taking a test. Taking the test doesn 't accomplish anything. Obama said “learning is more than just filling in a little bubble”.
