Rick Riordan, the author of “The Lightning Thief,” is also the author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book Two: The Sea of Monsters. Rick Riordan lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife and two sons. Riordans purpose of writing this novel is to entertain. This novel could also inform because Rick Riordan tells you about the Greek Gods and their special powers. An historical aspect to this story would be that it is based on greek myths. So, the greek myths would be an historical aspects. The genre of this story would be fantasy. I know this because on page 200, it states, “When he got me, he asked Athena to take me back and raise me on Olympus because he was too busy with his work.” This book falls into the fantasy genre because that …show more content…

Percy is the protagonist in the story. Percy is the infinite spirit son of poseidon. Next, Luke Castellen would fall into the place of the antagonist. The demigod son of Hermes is Luke. Lastly, Annabeth Chase. Annabeth Chase helped Percy on his quest to retain Zeus’s lightning bolt. All of these characters relate to one another because they all help Percy get his achievement done. The conflict to this story would be that Percy Jackson would have to retrieve Zeus’s lightning bolt and return it back to Zeus. The conflict would be man v man. The first rising action would be that Mr. Dodds talks to Percy in private. When Percy walked into the room, Mr. Dodds had wings and attacked Percy. Percy was saved by Mr. Brunner. Then, Percy went straight to Camp Half-Blood. Percy had no clue of what was going on. But when he walked through the gates, he knew exactly what was going on. Lastly, Percy had to go find Zeus’s lightning bolt. Sadly, Luke hid it under Percy's shield. The climax happened when Percy is back at camp and Luke pretends to apologize to him but he is intending for him to go back into the forest so Luke can try to kill him. Percy kills the scorpion and runs out of the forest. The falling action is when Percy had to return back home because camp was over. He’s happy to see his mother again but on the other hand, he will miss his friends. The resolution is that Percy is home and he gets to
