Matthew Delgado Class HUMN 11/14/2014 Are Video Games too violent? Technology has taken over the future of entertainment, and the video game industry has grown a massive amount over the recent years. Teens are targeted for the main customer age group, but many that do not meet the age requirements and still get access to a mature, violence filled game. With the rising conflict of young minds adapting to the massive killing and shooting scenarios that a game simulates, many teens with potential are turning addicted to a horrific game, studies show that video games may cause behaviour issues for many teens. If a troubleled teen gets a bad idea from a game that is focused on street crime and shooting it is likely they will repeat the same bloody actions. When a teen is doing nothing else other than playing anysort of game for long periods of times, health issues will accur and their isolation will cause them to go insane. In a study two groups of kids were asked to play violent video games more than another group, the group who had more exposure to the game was more violent than the one who did not play as much. (CNN.com) Many games now come with rewards, killing other players will get you medals, money, experience all in game, and because of this killing is "fun". Being exposed to dead bodies, blood, execution scenes, and crashes will cause a young person to act erratic, thus causing allot of trouble in the current and future time. When a player is being rewarded, the rewards that are given are rankings and the ability to customize your character with what you have unlocked with the levels or kills that one has acquired, basically showing off your fortune in the game, and with the competitiveness a gamer always feels they will not want to stop.
