The Green Bay Packers have been fortunate enough to sell so-called “stocks” to their fan base in order to help out with potential issues the team might face down the road. These so-called “stocks” have created a somewhat murky atmosphere amongst the rest of the league when dealing with funding for the construction of new stadiums or just simply upgrading their stadiums. I strongly believe that the NFL needs to do something about this issue. They need to either decide that other teams are allowed to do what Green Bay has been doing for the past several decades or order them to operate as the rest of the 31 teams in the NFL. I understand that they were “grandfathered” in with their approach to selling “stocks” to their fan base, but it has created an un-level playing field with the rest of the league. For example, imagine if the Cowboys, Giants, or Jets were allowed to operate the same way. How much money could they have been able to raise from selling these “stocks” to their fan bases? I do not have a problem with the way Green Bay operates, I just think that the NFL needs to either allow all franchises to do the same thing, or make the Packers function just like every other franchise. It does not set a good precedent to all the other teams in the league that Green Bay is the only franchise that is allowed to have this competitive
