College is the most important step in young adults' lives in our time. Not only about education, it provides an environment to foster growth of social skills, independence, and career opportunities. Choosing the right college is essential! But for some students, the chance of going to a good school is low. I'm one of those students. My chances of getting into a good college are low. How can that be? Looking at my qualifications, I graduated with honors from high school; I have a 4.1 GPA; I participated in clubs and I'm involved with my job, friends, and family. But how does all of that pertain to not getting a good education? Simply put, I don't have money. I can't pay for my education. My family has recently lost our house due to foreclosure, and we have to choose which bills need to be paid based on which service is about to be shut off. We struggle from paycheck to paycheck. Is that an option? These questions can't even be asked. The thing is, in the competitive job market, community college is highly looked down upon. LIU's school will help prepare me more, and its affiliation with hospitals will offer me more opportunities to discover what kind of nurse I want to be, and how I would like to live the rest of my life. This is why I pray that I can attend LIU. My current financial aid doesn't cover what I need to attend this school, which I would need to somehow pay by myself. My parents were rejected from the Parent PLUS loans (attached), and if they tried to take out a loan, the bank would think it's a joke. If the school will increase my financial aid package I will be able to attend the school I feel comfortable
