Forrest Gump is a worldwide masterpiece by Winston Groom published in 1986. It tells the life story of a mentally-retarted man named Forrest who was born with IQ below average but still be able to achieve tremendous success in his life.
Forrest lives with his single mother Sally Field who is a boarding-house owner in Alabama. He has an IQ of 75 and has to wear braces on his legs, but his mother makes him believe that he is no different from anyone else. “Life like a box of chocolate, you never know what you 're gonna get.” When you open a box of chocolates, there are a variety of flavors available. The problem is you do not know what a random piece of chocolate tastes like since they are covered in chocolate. You are going to eat a chocolate but you will not know what you are getting until you bite it. And then it 's done...Whether you like it or not, you 've tasted it. Just like life, life is full of sweet and bitter things. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to plan for things to work out a certain way, you end up with a life you did not expect.
Also, this book is interesting as it stimulates the audience to relate to their personal life events. Everyone experience hardship in various intensities and seeing how Forrest overcomes his tough battles to be the best version of himself is a great motivation for any one of us. He never stops trying and no matter what happens in his life, he always believe in good things.
In short, Forrest Gump is a masterpiece worth reading. It is not a mere story about a man with intellectual impediment. It is more a story of hope and motivation. Because life is so unpredictable, we do not know what may happen in the future. But a positive attitude while dealing with life will help.
