In Central America there are high levels of violence, particularly, in regard to gangs who are specifically targeting women. Resulting in families fleeing to the United States through the southern border. In an attempt to stop illegal immigration the current administration has been placing migrants, when caught, in detention centers. This is done as a message to others to not come over, and also as a holding place until they can be sent back to their home country. This becomes more controversial because of who is being held in these centers.
Regarding to the video, I believe that all three speakers have made good points from their perspective of open boarders for immigration. In the results of the debate it would seem that two of the speakers are sided on pro open boarders for immigration. Hence, the third speaker is against the idea of open boarder for immigration. The third speaker that was oppose to the idea of open boarder for immigration, have even stated out before his speech that this debate was two against one. Hence, the debate really bought out some interesting ideas, opinions and points of each speaker’s overview on the immigration policy and open boarder.
Mexican Americans have immigrated and emigrated to Americas since before the Mexican American war of 1848. Immigration of Chicanos has been happening for a very long time, but the only difference is that it is now becoming a problem. Before the border was created Mexicans would legally cross to America, with no immigration problems, until 1924. When the border was created, Mexicans and Chicanos no longer has access to their old Chicano lives. Children continue to illegally be brought to America in search of better opportunities.
Any United States citizen can work, usually starting at the age of 16, but not in my case. Even though I am not a citizen, I can legally live in the U.S. and attend school, except the fact that I cannot work. It doesn’t make sense does it? Currently, any person with an H-4 visa cannot work while physically living in the United States. Having an H-4 visa means one cannot earn any income or possess a social security number.

Despite the multiple attempts at creating a well-rounded immigration reform the United States has failed to achieve the full capacity of the reform. The United States first failure at the reform was in 1986 when congress passed the “Immigration Reform and Control Act”. The purpose of this legislation was to amend, revise, and re-assess the status of unauthorized immigrants set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. The content of this bill is overwhelming and is divided into many sections such as control of unauthorized immigration, legalization and reform of legal immigration.
There are people in America that worry about not getting accepted by others, which they focus on that feeling too much. It is hard for a person to forget about what other people are saying about you. It happens too often in America, plus it will take time to stop it, but when we all work towards it, we can eventually stop having to worry about this. I am fortunate to live in a community that this doesn’t occur in often, but there are still cities around America this is a major concern. Refugees from other countries are looked down upon.

For decades, immigration has been a problem for the United States. Due to the people traveling from their native lands to the United States seeking a better life for themselves, and more primarily for the family that has come with them. Immigration is the action of settling into a country of which one is not native. Despite the many legal immigrants not every immigrant enters the country with legal documents and most of these illegal immigrants are poor and uneducated. Some undocumented immigrants commit crimes such as drug smuggling, or terrorism.

There are multiple types of visas, depending on the purpose why one wants to move to the United States, such an employment, family, refugee, immigration, and marriage visa. My father first applied here as an immigrant, and when he arrived in the United States, my mother applied for a marriage visa to join my father to start their new lives together. They both went to the United Nations office in Baghdad, Iraq, a complicated six-hour drive from Slemani, Kurdistan to proceed with the preliminary steps.
There are many cons of immigration and some pros of it. At this point, they just make it so easy for immigrants to get in whether they are legal or illegal. I would say that most of the people are legal but there are also some illegal ones for sure. One of the main cons of immigration can be the threat they have with terrorism.
