Interracial Relationships have been around for a while and some people are still against them. These types of relationships are not a bad thing and they let people experience new cultures and be more acceptable towards other races. They can make someone’s future brighter and can positively change someone’s life. These relationships have existed for a while now so why are some individuals still against them? , some may think that these are bad because they are not exposed to them, their religion says it’s “not right” or they are just racist and cannot accept how society is changing. The author Cinzia Pica-Smith mentions in her research the importance of interracial friendships and how kids were tested on their social skills and those who had a friend of a different race showed less prejudice and more socially skilled (38). She also mentions how these types of friendships help and form a brighter future for children. Also, in the long run society and be acceptable and there will be less judgement. Children were interviewed and they say that having friends from different races helps them learn new things and become interested in new hobbies or activities that they learn from their friends and their families. On the other hand of these kids interacting some Psychologist thinks that it may lead to children trying to act and do things the “right” way when it comes to participating. When black children see white children doing things they will want to do things like white children do to be accepted and because they believe is the “right” thing to do.
