Why do people’s opinions matter? Why do some people have a superior say on something more than others? Should books be banned and censored in the library just because one person says something over another? Well no, books in the library should not be censored and banned based on opinions and thoughts. There are many different reasons books should not be banned or censored, being, It’s apart of history and can be helped and used for the future, other people have different opinions that might not affect other people’s opinions, and it is not your book to change it is the authors book and they got it published for one reason or another.

Many people disagree with the wording in books like in this quote from the Roald Dahl reports, “... language relating to gender, race, weight, mental health, and violence had been cut or unwritten. This includes removing words such as fat and ugly, as well as descriptions using the colors black and white.” I hate to break it to some people but those are just description words, and some people may take them to heart more than others. If you go to the library and see words like this then just put the book back, these words are used for imagery. If someone doesn’t want to read “offensive” things authors wrote in the past, then don’t read them, as this quote says, “ Let them fade away-- read better writers.” This is a perfect example, if you don’t like what one author writes then don’t read what they write, read something else, and if other people agree that it is offensive then let the book go and stop promoting the books and read something else. If you don’t like one book from the library for one reason or another then don’t read anything else like it ; besides, different people have other opinions and it is unfair for them to have a superior say over other people in the
