Crimes and Body Cameras In the past couples of years, especially the last two, the shootings of civilians by Police Officers has risen tremendously causing many riot outbreaks with the suspicions of racism. Ordinary people in society are not aware of the split second decisions officers have to make in the heat of a moment with an individual who doesn’t cooperate. With the recent shootings, many officers have been fired and dismissed without pay for the shootings to be investigated. In many cases, it’s the officers’ word against the suspects due to the lack of evidence in the quick decision moments. Body cameras would benefit both sides as in the officers and the individual being stopped so they both visual evidence of the confrontation. Many of these cases don’t have enough evidence to overturn or put away an officer who abuses his privileges of power. If the video from the body camera can be uploaded and displayed to a jury and judge it will benefit defenses. Cases are always brought up in the shootings but no evidence is sufficient enough like a body cameras would show. It goes based off the words from the officers, and what he writes in his reports. Body cameras can show from the minute the officer arrives at the scene until he apprehends the individual or shots are broken out.
