Throughout the annals of American history, the advocation for freedom, and the absorption of ideals such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have been at the forefront of the American belief. These beliefs were implemented in 1776, through the Declaration of Independence. This document was ratified by recalcitrant Americans who would not tolerate subjection to tyrannical rule. The American people hoped this document would seal their fate in relation to Europe, and prove to Europe, and frankly the entire world, that they were a separate, sufficient nation. But as the years unfolded, the realization that America would continue to be considered an inferior nation arose.
No other word is more fundamental and has more meaning in describing what Americans are and their ideologies than freedom, but prior to Civil War, the real meaning of freedom had to be learned. Can a country be a free nation if not everyone is enjoying freedom? The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave shows that prior to the Civil War, slaves had no rights or freedom. The book Across Five Aprils shows that the issue of slavery was so big, that it was causing division among families, more important it torn the country apart. The Sullivan Ballou Letter helps us to appreciate that the government needed help to be united again and many were willing to give their own life to help to make the government strong.

When it comes to grading America on Tyranny, over all I would give it a B+. But if I were comparing it to the world, I would give us an A. We have done a good job at keeping tyranny down. Civil liberties are rights guaranteed to citizens in the Constitution that the government cannot interfere with, however, in the name of national security, they do. The government sometimes finds it necessary for Americans to give up some of their basic rights to keep the nation protected, but many people find this unnecessary. A law-abiding citizen’s extremely personal information should not be essential to finding terroristic threats within this society. Under no circumstances should an American citizen’s civil liberties be violated in a time of war or crisis, because those are assured rights that are most valuable to their freedom during national conflicts.
America is the universal symbol of freedom. But is it really free? America at one time was defined by freedom, however now America defines freedom. Thus, altering the definition of the term. The founding fathers of America made specific rules for us to follow to keep peace and unity in our society, but over time those rules have been tampered with.
The belief that America is an exceptional nation that in several ways does not conform to the norm has been referred to as American exceptionalism. It is our country 's uniqueness that rates it high and special among others. It can be argued out that America is one of the freest nations across the world at both personal and political stories. This is enabled by the fact that the nation is governed by public as well as private interests. These interests that govern the America are based the country 's own constitution, which came to be in order to make each and every individual within the nation a window of success in the ever growing culture.
Freedom Anyone in the world with an occasional source of internet has no choice but to see the seemingly outrageous news stories, posted weekly on events in the US. American’s have made their distrust in the government more than obvious, which in many cases, the government has provoked. The largest debate in the states today is the with the concept of freedom and where the lines are drawn between social security, equality, and one’s rights. Freedom is and always has been heavily emphasized in the development of the 50 states. It’s brought peace and war both figuratively and literally.
In today society, people are easily looked by their college degree level and they can be judged by their degree. But not everybody can afford to go to college in order to get a degree. People have different reasons of not going to college but most of the reasons are because of the tuition. Tuition are too high and they can not afford it. If the free college situation does not make a great effect on the economy, I believe that college should be free because free college can encourage more students to go to college, earn a degree and can decide on their future without the worry of paying debt and contributing to create a better society with their knowledges.
America, the land of the free, does this reign true after the years of war and amendments to the Constitution that have been implemented? Our nation has gone through so many changes. Is there even a resemblance to the original system the framers of the Constitution envisioned? The majority of the Constitution has remained constant over the years, and those changes that have been made were for the amelioration of the country.
Getting ready for college is hard for some people because they don’t have enough money for college. Also, all their hard work for entering college has gone to a waste since they don’t have enough money. College education should be free because it could give students the life that they want, it could also help students concentrate on their studies, and lastly some people can’t afford the money. Generally speaking, college education should be free. College education should be priceless because it could give students the life that they want.
Freedom of Speech Freedom of speech is the freedom all people have, to express what they consider and express any opinions. It is an ability to express our opinions freely without being punished or censored. All people throughout the world are entitled and must have right to freedom of speech.
