It is almost certain that mentioning the word “attend” and “college” together in a sentence to high schoolers nowadays will either result in rolled eyes, begrudgingly loud groans, or static expressions. It’s pretty comprehensible, since students are often pressured or overly encouraged to attend college. Eventually, this may lead to the beginning of a question that leaves many teenagers scratching their heads or come to reliving existential crises: is college even worth attending? The answer to that is: yes. Absolutely. Although students must have tired out from the close-to-constant nagging from their parents or teachers to attend college, it’s definitely all out of good reason. College provides something high school doesn’t: opportunities to explore and experience, especially if the students haven’t mapped out what they want to do for their future. Subjects can be explored in greater depth, passions can be newly discovered, and future plans could come into full view. This, understandably, discourages many to throw away the idea of attending college. But this shouldn’t be so disheartening, because although the cost tuition continues to increase, the number of available financial aid options follow ever so closely behind. Not only that, but getting a bachelor’s degree more than makes up the difference and increases the chance of getting a preferred job with a stable income (“The Value Of A College Degree” 1, 2); and like said earlier, it is not necessary to attend expensive colleges or universities so there’s tons of options students can choose
