Hunting is an Ethical Sport
Imagine a law-biding hunter, strategically positioned on the ridge of a glorious mountain. This hunter is waiting for the perfect moment when his trophy-sized, six-point bull walks straight into view. Today is his day, as his adrenaline and excitement fill him with joy as he sees the animal and is about to pull the trigger, only to be criticized by an uneducated bystander protesting him not to shoot. While only 4.6% of the United States population has a hunting license, it is a very controversial topic. Hunting is an ethical sport because it supports a healthy diet and corrects unbalanced species in our ecosystem.

There are some citizens who believe that wild animals have no fair chance. Nevertheless, killing a deer cannot be any worse than slaughtering a cow or chicken for meat. “Nine in ten of America’s population include meat as part of their diet” (Berg). When a farmer decides its time for his animal to be slaughtered, the animal has no chance for survival whatsoever, yet individuals will still consider eating a hamburger ethical.
In conclusion, hunting benefits the environment in many ways including population issues and starvation that our ecosystems face yearly. In many countries, hunters are required to use every usable piece of the animal. Many people around the globe depend on the hunted game for nutrition and economic uses by balancing predator-to-prey relationships. Hunting is a natural, ethical sport that has existed for a very long time, reaching back into pre-history.
