Taxes have a big impact on our economy. The 16th Ammendment,dated in 19t,allows the government to tax the income of individuals. The idea, however, of taxing incomes started back in the Civil War to help pay for the Union war effort,. As it was pronounced unconstitutional and repealed ten years later, income taxation did not officially begin until the signing of the 16th Ammendment. Today, income taxes, although necessary, are attimes very expensive and unfair to the American people. A tax is a fee placed by the government for the American people to pay on different things. Hard working Americans are doing their job, and not getting paid the right amount of money they earned. Instead, too much of their money is going towards paying their income tax. The governments spending continues to rise, and because of this, taxes continue to go up, leaving the employee with less of their hard earned money. Our progressive tax system is unfair and inappropriate to all the different types of working classes. Not everyone pays the same amount of taxes,and there are a lot of loopholes in the system. A flat tax, where all classes pay the same rate,a would make more sense. Though paying different amounts of money, workers will be paying the amount that is easiest to them. The poorer class can give what they can, while still paying an appropriate amount of taxes. If government spending went down, taxes would go down. The problem is the government spends too much on things from other countries, causing the U.S to go in debt and taxes to go up. Americans are paying too much out of their paycheck for work they did. Taxation is fine, but taxing too much takes a toll on all workers. In the United States, we have a progressive tax system. Higher
