It was an ordinary Monday for the citizens of New York City. Civilians were going to work after a normal weekend spent with their families, friends, and kids were going to school until it all changed. It was the morning of September 11th, 2001 when 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda attacked the two World Trade Centers and the pentagon. The city was filled with chaos and individuals feared for their lives. The attack of 9/11 started the War on Terror where President Bush declared a rightful war on terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq to hopefully create a better and more safe environment for Americans. The War on Terror is justified because of the number of lives lost on 9/11, the overall safety of American citizens, and the end goal of defeating international terrorist organizations. President Bush did the right thing by trying to neutralize the terrorists around the world and strive for peace for his people. After our American people left Afghanistan, the impact it had was all our weapons were sold to Russia, which is ultimately our enemy. But since we have only been out of there for 2 years, there isn't much evidence to look at. With the regard to improving the stability in the Middle East and fully ending terrorism, it was ultimately a failure. Terrorism has entered the broader Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia regions even today, and the annual rate of terrorism has only grown since 9/11. Although the war was a failure in the end, it was very important for Bush to put his foot down and show dominance over his country to protect, serve and prove the point that he was worthy of being the president and that overall he cared.
