One of the main reasons people don’t believe ADHD is a real disorder is because numerous rumors and myths of ADHD spread that mislead people into believing certain topics on ADHD. For example, a few of the myths that were given stated that “kids with ADHD can never pay attention...all kids with ADHD are hyperactive” (Smith 1). Which can be easily disproved as children with ADHD have the capability to stay focused, but when a task gets boring for someone with ADHD they can not keep their focus. Furthermore, children with ADHD are not always hyperactive as not every child is affected by ADHD in the same way. In a study by Melinda Smith, she stated that, “children with ADHD are often able to concentrate on activities they enjoy, but no matter how hard they try, they have trouble maintaining focus when the task gets boring or repetitive” (Smith 1). …show more content…

Whereas if they start doing something that does not excite them, they may not be able to pay attention because their brains do not have the stimulation to stay focused on the task at hand. Therefore, showing that ADHD causes difficulties in the daily life of ADHD. For example, constantly forgetting to do a report due to the person being more intrigued in a book, game, or movie. Additionally, forgetting to pay a bill or take a test due to the person being so entranced by a sports game. This list varies from person to person but for those who have ADHD, trying to make plans and trying to do some type of work diligently and efficiently could be difficult as the task could be extremely boring. Thus showing that ADHD affects the person with ADHD tremendously as it makes completing simple tasks difficult.
