Autism is a highly advanced disorder that affects the brain and nervous systems ability to develop social and communication skills. The disabilities associated with autism can vary depending on the intensity of the disorder. Symptoms include impropriate social interaction, poor eye contact, speech delay, lack of attentiveness, and unawareness of others emotions. Treatments consists of therapy, medications, and visits to specialists. Autism spectrum disorder not only affects the patient while they are young, it also affects them as adults. Symptoms of autism consists of difficulty with communication and with social interaction. The symptoms may also include obsessive interests and repetitive behaviors, speech delay, learning disabilities, and lack of attentiveness. Social disabilities is one of the most common symptoms found in autism. Social issues include: avoids eye contact, plays alone, does not share interest with others, on interacts to achieve a goal, and does not understand personal space boundaries. Each person with the autism disorder has different communication skills. Some people with autism can speak while other cannot speak at all. Communication disability examples include the following: delayed speech, repeated words or phrases multiple times, and unrelated answers to questions asked to them. One of the most common disadvantages of having the autism disorder, is bullying. Bullying happens everywhere with anyone, but most common with people with disorders especially people with autism. Most autistic people are bullied because the bullied does not understand the condition and find the person diagnosed with autism strange. People with autism disorder also have learning disabilities which causes a major setback. They cannot attend regular school and some are not able to study at all.
