In response to my classmate post it caught my attention. I can relate to this subject because I am currently a nursing major. The argument that everybody should learn and explore the different aspect of nursing is a controversial subject.I believe that nursing is a special calling. Not everybody is meant to be a nurse. I am truly convinced that it takes a special person to be a nurse. Everybody is not openly set up to take on the title of a “caretaker “ because as humans we have different characteristics and specialties. However, the way she wrote her response convinced me that it is important the everybody learn the knowledge behind being a nurse. According to Everything is and Argument, “As a form of argument many reports, white papers and academic articles typically aim to convince readers rather than win out over opponents” (9). I appreciate how she mentions that her argument is invitational because as a reader it makes me feel comfortable to continue to read the rest of her response. Therefore, it makes me feel like i’m not force to agree rather to find understanding in the exploration of nursing. By the way, I really like how she has a specific target audience. I assume that a lot of people limit themselves due to their fears. As human beings we all have fears. This argument will definitely connect to the audience, this is best mentioned in Everything is an Argument, “No argument, even one that engages stasis questions thoroughly, can be effective unless it speaks well others-to what we describe as the audiences for arguments” (27). Lastly, I agree that using pathos in your argument is an effective strategy because you want your audience feel the way you feel. Emotional appeals are important because you can make connections with your audiences. Also, its important if you provide your own personal experience. for example, write about a time you learn something new while taking care of a person or patient. then, reflect on how that made you feel. Providing your own personal experiences will allow people to to understand and they will be able to identify with your own
