Lacks went to John’s Hopkins medical center for treatment for her cancer. In April of 1951, she underwent surgery to remove the larger tumor on her cervix. Henrietta Lacks, died three days following the surgery. Even though Henrietta Lacks died, her cells from the tumor have lived on and have made a major impact on the biomedical community.
Henrietta Lacks is the first African American woman to have the first immortal cells. She was born August 1, 1920 and grew up in Virginia with her six siblings. Henrietta is most known for her cell line used by thousands of scientist across the world. Today people refer to her cells as HeLa cells, this is short for Henrietta Lacks. Scientist could not understand how her cells became immortal.

According to Document H, “Researchers found that some women have a genetic predisposition to use the pathway that creates the bad metabolite (16-alpha-hydroxyestrone). Pro-choice has been coined to mean that women should have the right to choose abortion and it should be a legal option. Pro-life has been connected with the banning of abortion and looking at a fetus as a life so abortion is basically murder. However this pro-life view has gotten very convoluted.
The superhero or villain that I would like to change places for a day would be Natasha Romanoff, better known as the Black Widow who is apart of The Avengers. Even though she doesn’t have a robotic suit, a hammer, or a shield like some of the other Avengers, she can still take down an entire army with her impressive combat skills. In addition to her amazing fighting talent, Natasha does not age. She was born during WWII, but because her body has been scientifically engineered she is not affected by diseases and aging. Although it would only be a day in which I would not age, it would still be amazing to be one day younger.

Unlike doctors that only have one agenda when it comes to a woman giving birth, midwives provide women with individualized care uniquely suited to their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs. In the course of developing that relationship, midwives provide personalized and thorough care at many levels that empowers the soon-to-be mother in her ability to give birth and care for her baby. The maternity care practiced should be based on the needs of the mother and child and not the caregiver or provider; therefore, interventions should be avoided with the natural birthing process unless complications arise. Until 1940, midwives used to deliver most babies; however, there was a cultural and social shift that made women believe that the hospital provided a safer, pain-free birth without risks of hemorrhage, infection or death (Connerton). This movement has “grappled with economic, political, religious and racial differences” (Craven).
One of the furthermost essential issues in biomedical ethics is the controversy around abortion. There’s a long history on this controversy and it is still critically debated among researchers and the public in both terms of morality and legality. Some of the basic questions argued that may perhaps characterize the importance of the issue: Is abortion morally justifiable? Does the foetus/embryo/zygote have any moral and legal rights? Is the foetus a human being and, if so, should it be protected?

According to “Students for life” who are pro life, about 1 million abortions are executed each year in the US. That data adds up to 22% of pregnancies ending in abortion.
Abortion legalization We can do whatever we want with our body, it is our property. What government can do about this is to suggest, not to suppress. However, more than 300,000 females around the world are carrying a rapist’s child, due to formidable pressure from the government’s authorities. Why should the government care about our body?
Every life is precious regardless if its a full grown person or an unborn child in its mother’s womb. Abortion right does not support the fact that every human has the right to life. Not only does is abortion essentially murder, the effects of abortion on the mother can cause psychological damage and stunts the growth of the number of available babies that could potentially be adopted by willing parents. Abortion should be illegal because it causes harm to society, women and millions of unborn children around the country. Taking the life from the most innocent human beings on earth, before they could even make the decision for themselves, is the most cruel and inhumane action to commit.
