Breast cancer is a term used for a group of malignancies growing in the breast tissues. While researching I found information on breast cancer about what it truly is. Breast cancer can be deadly if not caught at the right time. The longest the tumor sitting without being found, it can spread through the body, making it even more deadly than it was before. This disease can be found in anyone worldwide. Although women are mainly affected by this disease, a study by the CDC in 2015 out of the 234,000 cases of breast cancer were recorded in the United States, 2,350 were men. Breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in females in the US, according to a trial done by the CDC. Men and Women in their late thirties or older are more subject to the disease than younger people. If the cancer is caught in later stages and has spread through the body there is not much a doctor can do. The earlier the cancer is caught the better a person's outcomes are. Chemotherapy and radiation will be used if the cancer has spread through the body or if the tumor cannot be surgically removed safely. Most of the symptoms come from the treatment for the cancer rather than the disease itself. Some side effects of chemo and radiation include anemia, which is a condition where blood does not have enough healthy red blood cells. ( Nabili, Siamak) Some other side effects include hair loss, nausea, fatigue, weight loss, and vomiting. Both of these treatments are mad to treat every type of cancer, they do not always work and sometimes make the patient’s health decline as they continue with treatment.
