It’s Cam Newton’s world and we’re all just living in it. You would be selling the Carolina Panthers short if you described their victory over the Arizona Cardinals as dominant. They absolutely manhandled the Cardinals.
The first Carson Palmer pass of the game really set the tone for how this game was going to be played out. Palmer missed a wide-open Darren Fells that would have resulted in a first down. All game long, Palmer looked off- he looked much more like the Palmer at the end of his time with the Bengals than the Palmer we have grown accustom to seeing. Palmer finished the game with six turnovers. Larry Fitzgerald, who has been the NFL’s most reliable receiver over the last decade, had two wide-open drops.
The Panthers’ defense held the Cardinal’s terrific wide receiving trio of Fitzgerald, John Brown, and Michael Floyd to a combined 80 receiving yards. Led by Luke Kuechly, their linebackers flustered the Cardinals’ offense. Palmer was routinely under pressure. They made the NFL’s best offensive unit uncomfortable form the first snap of the game till the last snap of the game.
