If Humanism is the application of classical thought to intellectual and social culture, then it must be acknowledged that objectively there is an expression of humanism within the Florentine Chronicle. Towards the start of book eight, Villani addresses his reasons for writing the chronicle and alleges that he was directly inspired by the Roman jubilee of 1300 whereupon, “beholding the great and ancient things therein, and reading the stories and the great doings of the Romans, written by Virgil, and by Sallust, and by Lucan, and Titus Livius, and Valerius, and Paulus Orosius, and other masters of history” he saw the need for Florence to have a similar recorded history. Here, Villani has directly referenced his classical inspiration and intent
Women continue to break barriers in sports and create new ideas of what it is to be a female athlete. In 2012 nearly every country sent at least 1 woman to compete in the Olympics. Despite all help that Title IX has provided women there is still controversy surrounding this bill. There are people who believe that in order for so many women to have been able to play sports there had to be certain departments and people who had to suffer. No matter what view one has on Title IX it is agreed that women have been helped majorly and changed the way sports were seen by both sexes.
Watching Women Final Four Championship game was a new experience for me because i never actually watched any female sports other than gymnastics. watching wasn’t the only first experience i participated in, having to actually listen closely to the commentators to what they say and how they say it, because normal for individuals to be so focused into the game that often whatever those commentators say falls on deaf ears, because your focus isn’t their mentally to pick up and comprehend what’s being said. I believe commentators are limited on words to use for the entire game without causing any kind of negative publicity, during the Women's championship game between Miss St. v. South Carolina commentators refers to all female athletes by Girl
Women have made enormous strides since the beginning of their fight. So large in fact, this year in the Olympics, for the first time in 20 years, the female athletes took home more gold medals than the males. The United States Women’s ice hockey team also overcame great odds. They won the gold for the first time in 20 years, beating their biggest rivals, Canada. Personally, I stayed up late watching that game.
Sure, the NBA has some pretty attractive players. But have you seen the WNBA's sexiest female athletes? I would argue that these hot ladies create much more of a stir than the hottest male athletes in the NBA. Don't believe me? Here are the top seven sexiest female athletes in the WNBA.
Women’s swimming is now part of USF’s athletic arsenal for the first time in school history. This addition not only brings the potential for increased enrollment, but has already contributed to a more diverse student body. “Athletics is another avenue for expanding the enrollment and reach of USF,” USF Athletic Director Josh Synder says. “Adding women’s swimming, a conference sponsored sport, would help the campus while also helping the conference.” Previously, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) only had four women’s swim teams: Minnesota State Mankato, Minnesota State Moorhead, St. Cloud State, and Northern State.
For as long as the world has existed there has been sexism. Even after the women rights act was passed in the 1920’s there has still been discrimination against women. Wether it be in the workforce, online, or just out in public sexism still happens. In the year 2018 women should not still be discriminated simply for their gender. Many people wonder as to what would be the best approach to end sexism.
In American society, there is an ongoing list of political ideologies. These political ideologies range anywhere from the commitment to traditional values (conservatism), to the freedom and openness to change (liberalism). Whether it is authoritarian conservative, anarchism, socialism, progressivism, pluralism, toleration, etc., everyone is entitled to their own views. After doing research on several ideologies, I found myself closely associated with liberalism.
Gender is it a concept or is it made apparent by our DNA when you are born or does it change as you grow older? Often gender is something that society defines at birth. According to society certain gender roles are pre established when we are born. The majority of society believes that if you are born to a specific gender you should adhere to the gender roles while other people believe that instead we may be born to a gender but it does not always decide if you are that gender. Science has proven that just because you are born a male or female does not mean that you mentally see yourself as that gender.
Being a girl is hard, women have been the second best since the beginning of time, women weren’t allowed to do a man's job in the military and it’s time that further evolves into women and men doing all of the same jobs. Although, some may argue that keeping women protected from the harsh realities of war is the reasonable thing to do and those people have a valid argument when they say women aren’t emotionally stable enough to fight on the front lines, or that women aren’t strong enough to serve; this applies to some women not all. Women have proven themselves capable of so much more than the standard that is set for them in the military: overcoming their physical differences and putting the excuses to rest. The excuses about being a distraction to men and that women are going to be prioritized over fighting. The military makes us believe that everyone in the military is treated
“Legs kicking, arms spinning. As I push off the end of the pool, the water rushes out of my way. I glide through the water straight as a pencil. My legs go up and down, over and over. My arms go round and round like a windmill.
ENDER ROLES IN SOCIETY There has been a traditional belief that males are more likely to involve in powerful positions than women from the start of civilization. According to this belief, men’s and women’s roles have to be socially appropriate and they are expected to take part in certain areas. The main question that has to be answered is why these roles divided into genders. Some people believe that it is related to biology or brain structure that makes a difference between boys’ and girls’ brain development in terms of intelligence that affects a status and roles to fulfill in society.
We all know that women didn 't have as many rights as men, and they still don 't. Women can now do more than they used to, but they still aren 't equal with men. They have had to fight for so many things like the right to vote and to be equal to men. The 19th amendment, the one that gave women the right to vote, brought us a big step closer. The Equal Rights Movement also gave us the chance to have as many rights as men. Women have always stayed home, cleaned the house, and didn 't even get an education.
In our advanced 21st century, it is hard to imagine our society as anything short of perfect. After all, we have come a long way from our seafaring ancestors. However, the reality is that despite how we may sometimes avoid seeing it, our society is anything but perfect. A very prevalent issue today is that despite laws being set in place to enforce the equal treatment of men and women, women all over the world today still face poor treatment and discrimination. Because of how deep and long this problem has run, revising discriminatory laws may not abolish discrimination and legislating laws that endorse gender equality may not necessarily create equality.
Surfing is an exciting and casual sport that is performed by using a surfboard to ride breaking waves towards the shore. Typically, this is done on a beach. New advances in technology have now made it possible to surf on land with the help of a wave pool. When you think of surfing, California, Australia, and Hawaii tend to pop into people's minds. Though surfing is big in all three of these places, it is a fun activity that is practiced all over the world.
